HOUSTON (ICIS)--US polycarbonate (PC) exports for October increased by more than 11% year over year, according to data from the US International Trade Commission (ITC) made available on Wednesday.
October exports totalled 33,389 tonnes, up from 30,049 tonnes in the same month last year.
Month over month, exports were down by about 1.3% from 33,843 tonnes in September.
The top three importers of US PC included China at 10,923 tonnes, Mexico at 9,092 tonnes and Canada at 3,373 tonnes.
Meanwhile, the US imported 4,947 tonnes of PC in October, a 39% year-on-year drop from 8,123 tonnes in October 2012 but about a 9.4% month-on-month increase from 4,524 tonnes in September of this year.
Year over year, Canada exported less PC to the US at 845 tonnes from 954 tonnes in October 2012. Singapore also exported less PC to the US at 829 tonnes from 1,424 tonnes in October 2012.
The third largest exporter of US PC in October 2013 was South Korea at 820 tonnes.
Major US PC producers include Bayer MaterialScience, SABIC and Styron.
