HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of methyl di-p-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) in October 2013 were down by more than 32% from October 2012, according to data by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) made available on Wednesday.

MDI exports in October 2013 declined year over year to 1,449 tonnes from 2,143 tonnes.

Month over month, however, exports were up by almost 10% in October from 1,320 tonnes in September 2013.

Through October, exports decreased by about 6% to 10,168 tonnes year over year, compared with 10,768 tonnes in the first 10 months of 2012.

The decrease was a result of smaller volumes being shipped this year to Brazil and India.

Top destinations for US MDI so far in 2013 are Mexico (3,640 tonnes), Brazil (2,425 tonnes) and Taiwan (1,077 tonnes).

US MDI suppliers are Bayer MaterialScience, Huntsman, BASF and Dow Chemical.
