SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhenhai Taida Chemical restarted its 60,000 tonne/year phthalic anhydride (PA) plant at Ningbo in Zhejiang province at 3:00 Beijing Time on 26 December after completing the maintenance work, a company source said on Thursday.
The company will ramp up the run rate at the PA plant to full capacity over the next 2-3 days, the source added.
The plant was shut on 18 December because of an equipment failure, according to the source.
Domestic PA prices were assessed at yuan (CNY) 10,550/tonne ($1,738/tonne) ex-tank in east China on 25 December, compared with CNY10,650/tonne ex-tank on 20 December, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
As the domestic supply will increase following the PA plant’s restart, prices are likely to continue declining amid weak demand from the end-users, a market player said.
