SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Keiyo Ethylene is currently operating its 740,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker at Ichihara, Chiba prefecture, at 90-95% capacity, similar to levels in December last year, a source close to the company said on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the cracker is expected to be taken off line from the beginning of May for maintenance that would span over a period of 45 days, the source added.

The shutdown dates have not been established yet, the source said.

Keiyo Ethylene is a joint venture of Maruzen Petrochemical, Sumitomo Chemical and Mitsui Chemicals. Maruzen Petrochemical holds a 55% share, while Sumitomo and Mitsui each hold a 22.5% stake in the company.
