SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Samsung Total plans to start up its new 240,000 tonne/year ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)/low density polyethylene (LDPE) tubular plant in Daesan on 11 February 2014 following a slight delay, a company official said on Tuesday.
“There was a slight delay in the delivery of parts from the manufacturer,” the official said.
The official added that the plant will produce mainly LDPE in the beginning stage whereas EVA production will start in mid-March after production stabilises.
More than half of the new plant’s EVA output will be exported, the official said, adding that offers for March cargoes will be finalised at the end of February.
The company operates a separate 150,000 tonne/year EVA/LDPE swing line at the same site which caters mainly to the domestic demand.
