LONDON (ICIS)--European polyacetal (POM) first-quarter contract prices rolled over from the fourth quarter, amid steady market conditions, sources said late on Tuesday.
Despite the €37/tonne increase in the first-quarter feedstock methanol contract price, steady supply and demand kept POM prices unchanged at €2.20-2.30/kg FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe).
One market source said the published range was reflective of the relative stability of end-user markets.
Market players forecast an improved outlook for 2014 compared to the same period last year, largely due to increased fourth-quarter passenger vehicle sales.
Polyacetal (also known as polyoxymethylene or polyformaldehyde) is an engineering thermoplastic used in precision parts that require high stiffness, low friction and dimensional stability.
