SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Hangzhou Electrochemical plans to restart its 200,000 dry metric tonne/year caustic soda plant at Hangzhou in Zhejiang on 16 February, a company source said on Friday.
The company shut the plant on 11 February for five days of maintenance, the source added.
The restart will increase the supply of liquid caustic soda and chlorine in the market, which may lead to a drop in caustic soda prices amid stable demand, according to a local market player.
The price of caustic soda in Zhejiang were yuan (CNY) 770-800/tonne ($127-132/tonne) DEL (delivered) on 14 February, unchanged from the previous day, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
