HOUSTON (ICIS)--US January daily butadiene (BD) production from crackers fell 4.1% month on month, according to data made available on Monday from consulting firm Jacobs Consultancy.
The firm’s Hodson Report showed January daily BD production from crackers at 7.93m lb/day (3,597 tonnes/day) compared with the December rate of 8.27m lb/day.
Although the cracker feedslate shifted heavier in January, operating rates fell.
US January cracker operating rates were 93.4%, down from the December rate of 95.5%.
The feedslate shifted 0.2% heavier, the report said, as naphtha and gas oil usage increased to 8.7% from 8.6%.
However, butane usage in January fell to 5.0% of the feedslate from 5.5% in December.
Total US BD production from crackers in January was 246m lb, down by 3.9% from 256m lb in December.
