SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Yueyang Xingchang Petrochemical is expected to resume production of methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) on 4 May, a company source said on Wednesday.
The company took off line its 75,000 tonne/year and 60,000 tonne/year MTBE units at Yueyang in Hunan province on 25 March, in response to the turnaround at Sinopec Changling , the source added.
Normally, Yueyang Xingchang Petrochemical produces around 6,000 tonnes of MTBE per month, most of which are supplied to Sinopec Changling for gasoline production.
Sinopec Changling shut its 8m tonne/year refinery in Hunan on 23 March for a turnaround, according to a company source.
Yueyang Xingchang Petrochemical also owns a 300,000 tonne/year gas fractionation unit and a 20,000 tonne/year isobutene production plant.
