SAN ANTONIO, Texas (ICIS)--Qatar Petroleum’s Ras Laffan Gasoline and Aromatics Project (RLGAP) will produce paraxylene (PX) and benzene, in addition to gasoline, a senior executive at the company said.
Due for start-up in the second half of 2018, the RLGAP will produce 1.304m tonnes/year of PX, 890,000 tonnes/year of benzene, and 820,000 tonnes/year of pentane, the executive said on the sidelines of the International Petrochemical Conference (IPC).
The aromatics from the site will be marketed by Muntajat, and the gasoline by Tasweeq.
The new combined complex will have gasoline capacity of 30,330 barrels per stream day (BPSD) of RON 97, and 30,330 BPSD of RON 95, aiming to meet the increasing demand for gasoline within Qatar.
Feedstock for the site will be naphtha from Laffan Refinery 1 and 2.
