MELBOURNE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Chang Chun Plastics has restarted its phenol/acetone plant in Kaohsiung after completing a scheduled maintenance, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.

Restart of the plant, which can produce 300,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 186,000 tonnes/year of acetone, was postponed to early April from mid-March, the source said, without elaborating.

The company is in the process of ramping up the Kaohsiung plant’s operating rate to 100% capacity by mid-April, the source added.

Chang Chun Plastics operates a second phenol/acetone plant at Changshu in China’s Jiangsu province.

Its Changshu plant - commissioned in August 2013 - can produce 300,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 185,000 tonnes/year of acetone.
