LONDON (ICIS)--EU imports of triethanolamine (TEA) fell 35% year on year in February, according to data released by statistics agency Eurostat this week.

Imports in February were 2,550 tonnes compared with 3,931 tonnes in the same month last year.

The fall was due to more limited imports from Russia, especially of lower quality TEA destined for the construction industry.

In addition, shutdowns in Asia and increased demand in the US limited imports from those regions.

Exports fell 47% over the same period, as Europe needed more product domestically.
