DUBAI (ICIS)--International Diol Company, an affiliate of Saudi International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem), has resumed normal operations at its butanediol (BDO) plant after undergoing maintenance and repairs for more than a month, the parent company said on Tuesday.

“Sipchem announces completion of scheduled maintenance in all facilities and process units, as per shutdown schedule, and successful tie-ins of expansion with facilities in existing plant. Operations were resumed in the plant on May 6,” it said in a statement issued to the Saudi stock exchange.

All plant units were shut on 1 April.

Sipchem expects the current maintenance to impact positively on BDO plant operations, with increased reliability and efficiency at all its facilities.

It is expected that the shutdown of the BDO plant will have an estimated financial impact of Saudi riyals (SR) 5m on Sipchem’s net margin for the second quarter.

Established in 1999, Sipchem manufactures and markets methanol, BDO, tetrahydrofuran, acetic acid, acetic anhydride, vinyl acetate monomer as well as carbon monoxide through its various affiliates.
