LONDON (ICIS)--Sales control on polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) remains in place at UK-based Lucite International, following news from the company that the force majeure on feedstock methyl methacrylate (MMA) will be lifted late on 16 May, sources said on Friday.
A source from the company said: “It is the end of the force majeure, but there will still be sales control on monomer. We will maintain our own sales control [on PMMA] at least until July.”
The producer imposed strict sales control on its PMMA customers in early May because of the force majeure on MMA at the company.
The producer previously said it was not able to sell any spot PMMA volumes, nor fulfil any orders above forecast.
Market sources said there had so far been no impact on overall supply as PMMA availability continues to outweigh demand.
