HOUSTON (ICIS)--US glycol ether contract prices for May were assessed as rolling over or moving down from April prices.
Glycol ether producers had not been seeking price increases in May, but market participants said that producers were eager to maintain margins even as buyers looked for price reductions due to declines in feedstock costs.
Prices for ethylene glycol monobutyl ether (EB) were assessed down by 2 cents/lb ($44/tonne) for May. Market sources said that there had been competitive prices in the market for EB this month. Contract prices for diethylene glycol monobutyl ether (DB), propylene glycol methyl ether (PM) and propylene glycol methyl ether acetate (PMA) rolled over from April to May.
EB is assessed by ICIS at 84-88 cents/lb, DB at 103-105 cents/lb, PM at 114-116 cents/lb and PMA at 116-118 cents/lb.
US glycol ether producers include Eastman Chemical, Dow Chemical, Sasol and LyondellBasell.
