HOUSTON (ICIS)--No impact to production is expected after a small fire at the Noltex ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) plant in LaPorte, Texas, a company spokesman said on Thursday.
The plant was in the middle of a 55-day planned turnaround when a fire broke out on Thursday in some scaffolding during maintenance work. Contractors sustained minor injuries but no equipment was damaged, Philip Wiles, Noltex business supply chain manager, said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, he said.
Noltex formed in 1994 as a joint venture between Nippon Gohsei (USA) and Mitsubishi Chemical America. The venture bought the plant from DuPont.
