SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thai producer PTT Phenol Co’s phenol, acetone and bisphenol A (BPA) production will not be affected by the reduction of propylene output at Thai refiner IRPC Rayong, a company source said on Tuesday.
IRPC’s propylene production is expected to be significantly reduced after a fire damaged a diesel production unit at its site in Rayong on Monday evening.
PTT Phenol Co will not be affected because they currently are not procuring propylene supply from IRPC Rayong, the source added.
Propylene is a feedstock for phenol and acetone while phenol and acetone is the feedstock of BPA.
PTT Phenol Co has a 150,000 tonne/year bisphenol A (BPA) plant at Map Ta Phut in Thailand.
PTT Phenol is a subsidiary of Thai energy major PTT.
