HOUSTON (ICIS)--Georgia-Pacific completed the acquisition of a chip mill in Bernice, Louisiana, from Hunt Forest Products, the paper producer said on Tuesday.
The mill produces clean wood chips from logs that have been debarked before the chipping process. The chips are used to make paper products, Georgia-Pacific said in a statement.
"We view this acquisition as a long-term investment that expands our access to wood and fibre supply in the region," said Mike Adams, senior vice president of sourcing for Georgia-Pacific.
Based in Atlanta, Georgia, the company operates three facilities in Louisiana and a wood and supply office at Port Hudson. Georgia-Pacific manufactures tissue products, printing paper, corrugated containers and lumber products.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Forest Products, based in Ruston, Louisiana, produces wood and forestry products.
