SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Luxi Chemical plans to bring on stream a new 250,000 tonne/year oxo-alcohols plant at Liaocheng in Shandong province in the middle of July, a company source said on Thursday.
The plant includes a 150,000 tonne/year 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) unit and a 100,000 tonne/year n-butanol (NBA) and isobutanol (IBA) unit, the source added.
The start-up is expected to ease the tight domestic oxo-alcohols supply in the near term, a market player said.
However, the increased supply also likely to dampen market confidence, the market player added.
The company is currently running its separate 250,000 tonne/year oxo-alcohols plant at the same site at 80-90% of capacity, which can produce 100,000 tonnes/year of butanol and 150,000 tonnes/year of 2-EH, according to the company source.
