LONDON (ICIS)–Western European propylene output rose by 3% in the first three months of this year compared with the same period in 2013, data released by petrochemicals association Petrochemicals Europe showed on Wednesday.

First quarter output in 2014 amounted to 3,668 kilo tonnes, compared to 3,577 kilo tonnes in 2013.

During the first quarterof the year, the European propylene market was impacted by better-than-expected demand as well as some supply constraints emanating from ethylene-led cracker reductions, refinery and propane dehydrogenation (PDG) maintenance.
