MELBOURNE (ICIS)--Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical did not restart its phenol/acetone plant in Kashima over the weekend of 5-6 July, as scheduled, following a scheduled turnaround, market sources said on Thursday.
It is unclear when the plant will be restarted, the sources said.
The phenol/acetone unit, which can produce 250,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 150,000 tonnes/year of acetone, along with the 100,000 tonne/year bisphenol A (BPA) unit at the same site, were taken off line in early May to undergo regular maintenance.
Mitsubishi Chemical did not immediately respond to several telephone calls and emails.
