Technip wins work for Westlake ethylene expansion in Louisiana

HOUSTON
(ICIS)–Technip has won a contract to work on a Westlake
Chemical ethylene expansion project in Louisiana, the
France-based international petrochemicals engineering firm
said on Tuesday.
Technip said that the contract is for detailed engineering
and procurement services to expand the recovery section of
Westlake’s Petro 1 ethylene plant at Sulphur,
Louisiana.
Stan Knez, senior vice president at Technip’s Stone &
Webster Process Technology business, added: “This award
follows a series of Technip feasibility studies to help
Westlake evaluate expansion options and development of the
process design package and front end engineering design for
the expansion.”
He did not comment on costs, capacities or timelines for
completion.
Westlake said previously that it was looking
to expand the Petro 1 plant.
