An ammonia plantLONDON (ICIS)–Algerian fertilizer major Fertial on Wednesday issued a sales tender for around 380,000 tonnes of ammonia for loading over a six-month period at ports close to its two plants.

According to a company source, interested parties have until 21 February to submit bids for the cargoes, which will be available for loading in Arzew and Annaba from March until September.

The Annaba-headquartered producer, which also produces nitrogen phosphate potassium (NPKs), is offering buyers the opportunity to load around 65,000 tonnes/month of the nitrogen product.

Previous tenders have been shared by Norway’s Yara and Spain’s Fertiberia and the cargoes discharged in countries including France, Germany, Norway, Spain, Italy and Portugal.

Algerian ammonia is popular with European buyers as it enjoys duty-free access to the EU. In contrast, Russian ammonia attracts duty of around 5.5%.
