HOUSTON (ICIS)--INVISTA has begun producing its TERRIN-brand aliphatic polyester polyols at a plant in Vlissingen in the Netherlands, the US-based international producer of chemical intermediates, polymers and fibres said in a statement issued late on on Wednesday (1 April).

INVISTA said that it produced first commercial volumes of the polyols at Vlissingen in late 2014 and that it completed the requirements for the EU’s Reach registration.

"By expanding production of the TERRIN family of polyols into Europe and utilising an existing INVISTA manufacturing facility, we are able to better serve the growing European demand for competitively priced products with sustainable content," said Nadine de Vries, a company vice president for polyols.

TERRIN polyols contain a minimum of 50% recycled content, with some containing renewable content, as well. Formulators can use the polyols instead of, or in combination with, conventional polyether or polyester polyols to formulate a variety of polyurethane (PU) products, the company said.
