Japan passenger car sales rise in April, bucking trend

LONDON (ICIS)–Japan passenger car sales rose by 2.23% in April 2016 year on year, bucking the trend seen throughout 2016 to date, according to data from the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) on Tuesday.
The largest rise was in standard size passenger cars, although mini class vehicle sales continued to fall, dropping by 9% in April year on year.
Sales in 2016 to date have fallen by 5.89% compared with the same period in 2015. The sharpest falls were seen in mini-class vehicles, which saw a drop of almost 15% year on year.
