Europe French strikes play havoc with PE, PP production

LONDON (ICIS)–Polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) production is being affected by strikes in France, and two producers have already called force majeure restrictions on both PE and PE, sources confirmed this week.

Total Petrochemicals and INEOS declared legal restrictions as they were unable to deliver all agreed volumes from French sites, while other producers said they were keeping a close eye on the situation.

Buyers said a couple had said that if force majeure were to be declared, it would be because of transport issues rather than production problems at the plants themselves.
