Mini car sales drive the fall for Japan passenger car sales in July

LONDON (ICIS)–Japan passenger car sales recorded a slight fall of 2.17% in July 2016 year on year, with mini size passenger car sales again being the main driver of the decrease, according to latest data from the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).
Despite this downward movement, standard car sales increased by 3.54% in July 2016 year on year.
Sales in 2016 to date have fallen by 4.86% compared with the same period in 2015 with the biggest falls seen in mini-class vehicles, which dropped by 15% year on year.
The automotive industry is a
major global consumer of petrochemicals which contributes
more than a third of the raw material costs of an average
