NEW YORK (ICIS)–INEOS chairman Jim Ratcliffe has been presented with the 2016 ICIS Kavaler Award, voted for by his peers in recognition of his achievements.

At a black tie event at New York’s Metropolitan Club late on 14 September, Ratcliffe accepted the award.

Ratcliffe said: “It’s great to receive this award which is a compliment to the INEOS team. It’s been great fun over the last 20 years running and growing INEOS through all the changes in the chemical industry.”

Introducing Ratcliffe, ICIS Chemical Business Global Editor, Joseph Chang said: “Jim has a visionary style of management which has included bringing US ethane first to Norway and now to Grangemouth in Scotland. He is trying to bring manufacturing back to the UK and make it great again.”

The winner of the award is elected by the ICIS Top 40 Power Players who vote in a confidential ballot for three of their peers, based on newsworthy achievement.

Past winners include Dow Chemical chairman and CEO, Andrew Liveris, LyondellBasell chairman and CEO James Gallogly and PPG chairman and CEO Charles Bunch.
