MOSCOW (MRC)–Stavrolen, a major producer of polyolefins in Russia, resumed production of polypropylene after a forced shutdown due to technical problems, according to the ICIS-MRC Price Report with reference to the producer’s customers.

Stavrolen’s plant was shut down on 7 October. Customers of the company said the first shipments of PP were carried out on 24 October.

September production of high density polyethylene (HDPE) and PP at the plant was 25,300 and 10,500 tonnes respectively.

The producer’s output of HDPE and PP in the first nine months of the year reached 205,600 and 87,700 tonnes respectively.

Stavrolen – a subsidiary of Lukoil – is the second largest Russian producer of high density polyethylene (HDPE) after Kazanorgsintez and the fifth in terms of polypropylene production.

Stavrolen’s production capacities for HDPE and PP are 300,000 tonnes/year and 120,000 tonnes/year, respectively.
