MOSCOW (MRC)–Russia’s Kazanorgsintez’s production of polycarbonate (PC) increased to 6,600 tonnes in January 2017, up by 3.5% year on year, according to MRC’s ScanPlast report.

Last month’s output of material has been the highest for the past four years.

Kazanorgsintez produced up by 3.6% of PC granules in January than in the previous month.

The plant continued in January to increase the share of injection moulding grades in the overall production structure, which reached 52% compared to 32% a month earlier.

Thus, in January, the output of injection moulding grade PC-010 UL was 3,500 tonnes and production of extrusion grade PC-007 UL1 stood at 3,200 tonnes.

On the back of sheets’ producers activation, almost all the produced  extrusion grade material at the beginning of the year was consumed domestically.

The opposite situation happened with Kazanorgsintez’s injection moulding PC, which was actively exported.

In January 2017, exports totalled a record 3,800 tonnes.

Injection moulding grade PC-010 UL accounted for the entire exports.

Last year’s PC exports were 10,600 tonnes or 15% of the total production.

Prices of Kazanorgsintez’s material stood at Russian roubles (Rb) 159,000-161,000/tonne ($2,760-2,800/tonne) CPT (carriage paid to) Moscow, including VAT, in the first half of February.
