LONDON (ICIS)–European spot and contract cracker margins have risen week on week on the back of falls in both naphtha and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) euro-denominated costs, according to ICIS margin analysis on Monday.

In the week to 17 February, cracker margins based on naphtha feedstock showed the most improvement rising by 10% and 9% for contract and spot ethylene margins respectively. Euro-denominated naphtha costs fell by 4%, while co-product credits in both cases were flat week on week.

Meanwhile, cracker margins based on LPG rose by 5% on the back of a 2% drop in euro-denominated costs. Co-product credits were flat week on week.

Contract naphtha cracker margins continue to hold a premium over those based on LPG, currently €116/tonne.
