SINGAPORE (ICIS)--India’s ONGC Mangalore Petrochemical (OMPL) has shut its 920,000 tonne/year paraxylene (PX) plant for a turnaround, a source with knowledge of the matter said on Tuesday.

“The plant will shut for three weeks from early May and will be back on stream in the third week of May,” the source said.

The plant located in the Mangalore Special Economic Zone feeds downstream purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plants in southeast Asia for the first six months of 2017, under a spot tender awarded to a trader.

It will divert a sizeable portion of its output to JBF Industries’ new 1.25m tonne/year PTA plant in Mangalore, under a long-term supply contract, once this unit starts up.
