HOUSTON (ICIS)--US midstream major Enterprise Products Partners said on Thursday that it expects its propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit in Texas to start initial operations in September.
“We will be introducing propane [into the PDH unit] in the next two weeks,” company officials told ICIS.
Located in Mont Belvieu, Texas, the PDH unit has a propylene capacity of 750,000 tonnes/year.
The project had previously been slated to start up in the second half of 2016, but was delayed.
It had been expected to be fully commissioned by the end of the second quarter, with a start-up as early as July.
The Enterprise unit will be the third PDH unit in the US Gulf.
Dow Chemical began operations at its PDH unit in Freeport, Texas, in December 2015. The unit has a capacity of 750,000 tonnes/year.
Flint Hills Resources also operates a PDH unit, located in Houston, Texas. The unit has a capacity of 660,000 tonnes/year, according to ICIS plants and projects.
