HOUSTON (ICIS)–ExxonMobil is evaluating an additional expansion of light crude refining capacity at its operations in Beaumont, Texas, the company’s public and government affairs representative Charlotte Hufftaker said on Friday.

Hufftaker noted that ExxonMobil completed construction in late 2016 on a project to expand its crude refining capacity by approximately 20,000 bbl/day. The unit was announced as part of the company’s Growing the Gulf campaign.

According to Hufftaker, if the project proceeds, construction will begin in 2019, with unit start-up expected in 2022.

She added the investments reflect increased availability of affordable and abundant US light crude supplies.

ExxonMobil’s Beaumont refinery is part of the company’s integrated operations in Beaumont, Texas, that includes the 365,000 bbl/day refinery, as well as chemicals, lubricants and polyethylene (PE) plants.
