ShellLONDON (ICIS)--Shell has declared force majeure on product from its Moerdijk, Netherlands, cracker, following a fresh technical problem this week, according to multiple market players on Wednesday.

Shell first declared force majeure on 2 August on ethylene, following the fire and outage at the nearby Pernis refinery.

Sources said the initial force majeure was lifted at the weekend, but there have then been further technical issues since then, resulting in another declaration.

Shell had not responded to a request for comment at the time of publication.

One player in the ethylene market commented that Shell customers are currently on allocation, but there has not been a noticeable increase in spot activity since the declaration.

Key products produced at a cracker include ethylene, propylene, butadiene and crude C4s.
