Germany July basic chem producer prices off 0.6% from June

LONDON (ICIS)--Producer prices for basic chemicals in Germany fell 0.6% in July from June, following an 0.6% decline in June from May, the country’s federal statistics agency said in a detailed breakdown of its monthly producer price data on Friday.

Compared with July 2016, price for basic chemicals were up 5.1% year on year, according to the data by Wiesbaden-based Statistisches Bundesamt.

July’s prices for ethylene-based polymers were down 1.4% sequentially from June, and they were down 0.1% year on year from July 2016.

Prices for vinyl chloride-based polymers were down 1.2% from June, but they were up 3.2% year on year from July 2016.

Prices for synthetic rubbers were down 0.5% from June, but they were up 10.8% year on year from July 2016.

The agency reported earlier that Germany’s overall producer prices in July were up 0.2% from June and up 2.3% year on year from July 2016.
