Japan’s July methylene chloride exports surge to 1,606 tonnes

SINGAPORE (ICIS)–Japan’s methylene exports more than doubled year on year to 1,606 tonnes in July, official data showed on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, import volume fell by 18.9% year on year to 104 tonnes, according to data from the Japan Customs.

Oa a month-on-month basis, exports and imports were both higher by 94.6% and 124.7%, respectively.

On a year-to-date basis, total exports and imports rose by 2.2% year on year to 9,868 tonnes by 21.7% to 884 tonnes, respectively.

Methylene chloride is largely used in various industries such as paint stripping, pharmaceutical manufacturing, metal cleaning and degreasing.
