SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Asia polybutadiene rubber (PBR) spot offers look set to rise further in September because of upward costs pressure from escalating feedstock butadiene (BD) price.
Spot offers for high-cis PBR rose to $1,800-1,900/tonne CFR (cost and freight) southeast (SE) Asia this week, in line with the rising feedstock BD costs.
“We have no choice but to revise our PBR offers up due to costs pressures from soaring feedstock BD price,” a northeast Asian PBR maker said.
The feedstock BD price had surged by 45% since the end of July to $1,375/tonne CFR norhteast (NE) Asia on 25 August, ICIS data showed.
Spot prices for high-cis PBR were assessed at $1,650/tonne CFR SE Asia on 24 August, up by $75/tonne from late July, ICIS data showed.
