MOSCOW (MRC)–Gazprom neftekhim Salavat has begun a gradual resumption of polyethylene (PE) production, representatives from the Russian producer confirmed, according to ICIS-MRC Price report.

Some of the producer’s customers had already said Gazprom neftekhim Salavat had resumed its high density polyethylene (HDPE) production on Monday (28 August), with the first shipments of material to the market are expected on Wednesday-Thursday.

The plant’s low density polyethylene (LDPE) production will be restarted during the week as well.

Although the company’s PE outage was scheduled, it took more time than planned to restart operations.

The shutdown for maintenance at PE units started on 1 July, and at the time it was expected to last until the beginning of August.

However, due to problems at the ethylene unit, the outage at the LDPE and HDPE lines lasted in the end nearly two months. The plant has a production capacity for LDPE of 45,000 tonnes/year and of 120,000 tonnes/year for HDPE.

MRC, a partner of ICIS, produces polymers news and pricing reports from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
