Rig, platform inspections continue in Gulf of Mexico

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Offshore oil and gas platforms in the Gulf of Mexico continue to be surveyed to determine whether they can resume normal operations, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) said on Friday.

The number of evacuated platforms in the Gulf of Mexico decreased by 19 between Thursday and Friday, the BSEE said. Zero rigs are evacuated as of Friday, the BSEE said.

Approximately 83,126 bbl/day of crude oil in the Gulf of Mexico is no longer shut in from Thursday, while the amount of shut in natural gas decreased by 162m cubic feet/day, the BSEE said.

Production from undamaged facilities will be brought back on line immediately following standard safety checks.

Damaged facilities may take longer to bring back online, the BSEE added.
