MOSCOW (MRC)–Russian major polyolefins producer Stavrolen began the process of shutting down its polypropylene (PP) production for a prolonged turnaround, according to ICIS-MRC Price Report.

Stavrolen started to take its PP production off-stream on Wednesday this week with the outage expected to last for two months, the company’s customers said.

Ufaorgsintez also intends to shut its production for a two-week turnaround on 10 September. The plant’s annual production capacity is 120,000 tonnes.

Stavrolen, Lukoil’s subsidiary, is Russia’s second largest high density polyethylene (HDPE) producer after Kazanorgsintez and the fifth largest PP producer. Its production capacities for HDPE and PP are 300,000 and 120,000 tonnes/year, respectively.

MRC, a partner of ICIS, produces polymers news and pricing reports from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
