LyondellBasell Houston Refinery celebrates 100 years

HOUSTON (ICIS)–LyondellBasell on Thursday celebrated the 100-year anniversary of its 268,000 bbl/day refinery in Houston, Texas.

“The products made at our refinery go far and wide and allow goods to move, people to travel and economies to grow,” said Bob Patel, CEO of LyondellBasell.

The refinery is tooled to process high sulphur, heavy crude oil and makes products such as gasoline, distillate fuel, petcoke, aromatics and refinery-grade propylene (RGP).

The refinery was one of the first refineries constructed on the Houston Ship Channel and traces its origin to the Sinclair Refining Company.
