KUALA LUMPUR (ICIS)–PETRONAS’ Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) currently being built in southern Johor, Malaysia, is on track to start up in 2019, a senior executive said on Monday.

The mega project is “progressing as planned and on schedule” to come on stream in 2019, Shamsairi Ibrahim, commercial head at PETRONAS Chemicals Group, told delegates at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Asia Petrochemical Industry Conference (APIC) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

PIC houses the Refinery and Petrochemical Development Project (RAPID) that is scheduled to start commercial operations in second-half 2019.

The 2018 APIC conference – centered around the theme of “Creating Value Through Collaboration” – has attracted around 1,650 delegates, he said.

The conference runs on 20-21 August.
