Russia’s chemicals, minerals output up 2.7% in 2018

MOSCOW (MRC)–Russia’s output of chemical products rose in 2018 by 2.7%, year on year, according to the country’s statistical agency Rosstat.

Nearly 3m tonnes of ethylene were produced in 2018, up by 4.8% year on year, while benzene’s output rose 3.3% to 1.3m.

Production of caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) grew to 1.3m in 2018, up by 6.3% year on year.

Meanwhile, mineral fertilizers’ output stood at 22.9m tonnes in 2018, up by 1.4% year on year, with nitrogen fertilizers accounting for the greatest increase, up by 3.7% compared to 2017.

Nitrogen fertilizers include ammonia, ammonium nitrate (AN), ammonimum sulphate (AS), calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN), urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) and urea.
