SAN ANTONIO (ICIS)–Caramuru, a large soy processor and major biodiesel producer, has increased glycerine refining capacity and will have new US Pharmacopeia (USP) certified vegetable refined glycerine available for export by the end of 2019, an executive at the Brazilian company said on Sunday.

Caramuru plans to have 40,000 tonnes/year of 99.7 vegetable refined glycerine available for export markets by the end of the year, the company said.

The executive was speaking on the sidelines of this year’s International Petrochemical Conference (IPC).

The refined glycerine will also have other quality certifications including Halal, Kosher, GMP+ and  HACCP, among others.

Caramuru operates three biodiesel production units, two in Goias and one in Mato Grosso, with a capacity to process 545m litres/year (144m gal/year).

Most biodiesel plants produce by-product crude glycerine at a 1:10 ratio.

Hosted by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM), the IPC takes place on 24-26 March in San Antonio, Texas.
