SAN ANTONIO (ICIS)–US maleic anhydride (MA) prices are holding steady in March, according to sources on the sidelines of this year’s International Petrochemical Conference (IPC).

There have been no issues with supply, while feedstock butane costs have moderated as winter has ended.

Demand was seasonally soft in the first quarter, but is expected to pick up in the second quarter during the peak season for downstream unsaturated polyester resins (UPR).

UPRs are used in applications such as recreational boats, bathroom fixtures, automobiles and pipes.

Hosted by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM), the IPC takes place on 24-26 March in San Antonio, Texas.
