AFPM ’19: Fluor begins FEED work on INVISTA’s new China ADN plant

SAN ANTONIO (ICIS)–Fluor has begun the pre-front-end engineering and design (pre-FEED) and FEED for INVISTA’s new adiponitrile (ADN) plant in China, the US-based engineering firm said on Monday.

INVISTA plans to build a 400,000 tonne/year plant at the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park.

Construction is expected to begin in 2020, with start-up by 2022.

“Aligning with INVISTA’s project vision, we are deploying our integrated solutions approach and collaborating with our global sourcing and local construction experts in the early design phase,” said Sandeep Nibber, president of Fluor’s Energy & Chemicals business in Asia Pacific.

“The result will be an efficient schedule and cost certainty to the project’s execution plan.”

ADN is a key intermediate chemical in the production of nylon 6,6.

Hosted by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM), the IPC takes place on 24-26 March in San Antonio, Texas.
