Hoechst starts up Singapore VAM plant

Hoechst Acetyls Singapore has commissioned its 170 000 tonne/year vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) plant at Pulau Sakra, Singapore. The plant is operating at full capacity following initial start-up on 31 July. It is supplied with acetic acid from Hoechst Celanese' Clear Lake, Texas facility, and sources ethylene from Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore, and nitrogen and oxygen from Air Products.
