11 September 2000 00:00 [Source: ICB Americas]EUROPEAN Chemical Distributor Alliance has signed a single-sourcing agreement with the Penta Group, an eight-member group of regional chemical distributors in Germany. Penta also has partners in Austria, Scandinavia and Italy.
KEMIRA Chemicals has acquired a plant in the Czech Republic for the production of aluminum sulfate as a water coagulant. The company already manufactures iron-based coagulants in that country, where it has a local subsidiary, Kemira ProChemie.
YULE Catto posted a 15 percent increase in sales to £259 million ($375 million) during the first half of the year. Its operating profit was flat at £31 million. The company was affected by the rising cost of major raw materials for polymer chemicals.
