LONDON (CNI)--Atofina confirmed on Tuesday that it has brought its new acrylic monomer plant in Carling, northeast France onstream.
The new plant raises the French chemicals producer's acrylic monomer capacity site to 50 000 tonne/year. The plant's capacity was not disclosed.
Raw materials for the production - acrylic acid and methyl methacrylate (MMA) - are already available at the Carling site.
Henri Dugert, a business manager for the acrylic monomer business, said the acrylic monomer expansion will improve Atofina's downstream integration in the acrylics sector.
"This new plant marks a significant increase in Atofina's global capacity, representing in particular one of the largest capacities in the world for Adame (dimethyl aminoethyl acrylate)," he said. "It will therefore enable us to consolidate our position as a special supplier to producers of cationic flocculents used in water treatment and in paper manufacture."
